Tissue Salt #6 - Kali Phos (Potassium Phosphate)

Kali Phos is a nerve nutrient and emotional tonic, and according to some texts when the chemical possibilities of this salt are better understood, insane asylums will go out of fashion. The gray matter of the brain is controlled by the inorganic tissue salt potassium phosphate and his salt unites albumen and oxygen to create nerve fluid.

Kali Phos is fantastic with nervous disorders of all kinds. Nervous headaches, sleeplessness, depression, weariness, lowered vitality, irritability, impatience, fear, poor memory, "people that make mountains out of molehills", over-active brain, night terrors, sleep walking, and anxiety.

Kali Phos is also helpful in the treatment of shingles, in nervous asthma, poor dental health, ear-humming, sciatica and hoarseness from overexertion of the voice. Kali Phos would be useful with wasting diseases of tissue, gangrenous conditions, offensive discharges, and dry, scaly tissues that lack vitality. This list is not exhaustive!

There are some facial signs to look for in someone with a Kali Phos deficiency. These people would have a slight ash gray appearance most often seen on the chin, temples, lower eyelids, and outer corner of the eyes. They would have sunken temples, loss of skin elasticity and shape, and hollow eyes. Due to the digestive issues of a Kali Phos deficiency, these people could have bad breath. [1]

In an acute situation that is severe such as shingles, asthma attack, or nervous headache, as an adult you would want to take 2-3 tablets every 30-60 minutes until the pain or symptoms subside. You can give children 1-2 tablets and infants 1 tablet. In an acute moderate situation with bearable pain, you would take 2-3 tablets every 2-3 hours until symptoms subside.

Tip: If you have had trouble sleeping or wake in the night and can't get back to sleep, pop a couple Kali Phos under your tongue.Repeat according to the severity of the symptoms. Stop on improvement. Repeat as needed.

You can also take tissue salts to treat chronic conditions. With a chronic condition, such as anxiety or depression, you would take 2-3 tablets, 2-3x per day for 5 weeks, or you can even finish the full bottle. Taking little breaks is important so the body does not develop a tolerance. In this situation, you would take the tissue salt either for 5 days on with 2 days off, or for 3 weeks on with one week off over many months.

When taking tissue salts, tip the tablets into the lid and drop them into your mouth. Avoid touching the cap to your mouth. It is also important to try to avoid food for 10-20 mins before and after taking the salts and take away from coffee or mint products as it will not be properly absorbed.

It is important to always let your symptoms guide you, and if you experience any side effect or worsening of symptoms then stop taking them. As your symptoms improve – take less often.

Tissue Salts are a part of Homeopathic Medicine.

Homeopathy, the medicine of energy, is a medical system based on the belief that the body can cure itself by strengthening its own defense mechanisms by using substances selected for their energy-giving properties. Homeopaths use tiny amounts of natural substances, like plants, herbs, minerals, chemicals, disease products or allopathic drugs which are potentized.

Sodium Sulfate or Nat Sulph is a water eliminator and a deficiency of Nat Sulph will lead to an excess of water. Nat Phos which we discussed earlier, is a water distributor and these two tissue salts work well together.
